![]() One day PFA Agra got a distress call
from Mr. P.K Rawat. He informed us that a female monkey near a temple was
crying due to intense pain. She was rolling on the ground and the people
were hesitant in helping her out due to fear of being bitten by her. No
one stepped forward. Luckily for her Mr. Rawat was around and he had PFA
Agra's Helpline number. He called us and our rescue team went and brought
her to the PFA Agra shelter. On examination, it was found that it was a
case of dystocea (the fetus is unable to come out of the pelvic cavity).
The head of the fetus was diverted to side wards. The monkey was put under
anesthesia and the dead fetus was taken out.
The mother was put on supportive therapy
and strong antibiotic coverage for a week. She was lethargic and in a
state of trauma due to the loss of her baby. She refused to take food but
gradually she was slowly bribed into taking food. She started by taking
bananas and then 'Dalia' (broken wheat cooked in water with a little milk
added later). This food is light and easily digestible. Within a week, her
depression started lifting and she started taking interest. She would come
to us and take food from our hands. She then adjusted to a normal
life and when totally recovered, she was freed from the bondage of the
cage in the area from where she was brought. |

PFA Agra Activities
One
we named Miss Mini (picture on the right). She was very friendly
and was the gentlest of dogs. She was
luckily adopted by a family who always had pets. There she is happy. Another spitz was
left at our shelter and being aggressive we were unable to get close to
him. Luckily the owner had a change of heart and he took him back.
The
third is not so lucky (picture on the left). She is very old and was
abandoned by her owner. She was left out on the
streets from where she was brought to us. It is just a
matter of time till she leaves us. We are trying to keep her as
comfortable as
possible.
