A pup came to our shelter around 2 years back. The person who brought the pup to us informed us that she had been lying unconscious outside their house, bleeding from her forehead. Her condition was pathetic. She had a nasty injury on her forehead and a piece of bone was sticking out of her forehead. For sure she had either met with an accident or someone hit her on the head. Unfortunately this is the fate of most of the strays. Her treatment started immediately and it went on for a long time. She remained in an unconscious state for quite a number of days. We didnt give up on her...we didnt want to. If she was fighting to stay alive, we were determined to give her all the chances and do the best for her. Finally after around a month, she started responding to the treatment. She became slightly active. Slowly but surely she recovered. Now she is so active that it is hard to imagine she was almost on death bed. Since her fur was cream coloured, we called her WHITY. She is still with us in our shelter leading an active life. She is a beautiful playful dog. She is in our list of sponsor dogs. Do consider adopting her or sponsoring her...???
This is how PFA Agra is making a difference in the lives of all the injured stray animals out on the streets, one animal at a time. We are the only shelter here in Agra doing something for stray animals. Unfortunately we are running very low on funds. Every month is a struggle to survive - a never ending fear as to what will happen, how will we be able to buy food, medicines, pay salaries etc. Thats why we have launched a campaign called Circle of Compassion as an urgent call to animal lovers to help us out. We only need 1200 people who can give long term unwavering support by giving a yearly donation of INR 2000 (~30 euros) or more...not a lot but if you see the positive effect it can have on our animals future, the outcome is PRICELESS!
This will atleast ensure the continuation of our helpline and the infrastructure and help sustain our current efforts. Thousands of voiceless in need are heard, and the Circle of Compassion, an umbrella for the protection of the stray animals, is formed!! THIS is the essence of this campaign..THIS is the essence of our organisation..

A page from the life of PFA Agra - Rescue of Geese
Remember the story of the geese that PFA Agra rescued from paliwal park? We had mentioned it in our previous newsletter and also on facebook. For people who are not aware, click here to see the article covered by Times of India on 26th March on this rescue. Out of the 14 geese in the park, 7 died due to injuries sustained. The remaining stayed at the PFA Agra shelter for around 2 months where they also gave birth to two new goslings. During these two months, we contacted the park authorities and asked the re-secure their peripheral areas so that dogs from outside do not enter. On inspection we again asked them to redo certain areas and when we were satisfied we released the geese. For 2 months they were in an enclosed space and in release, it was a sight for sore eyes. They were thrilled at being set free. Immediately they went for the pond and started swimming. A beautiful sight it was!!
This year we were running quite low on budget and we had no funds to buy fodder (Bhusa) for our cattle. Moreover due to unexpected rains, the fodder prices went up. We needed 5 trolleys of fodder for the whole year. We have tears of gratitude in our eyes when we annouce that we have received enough donation to buy 3 trolleys of bhusa!! We still have to buy 2 more trolleys, but we are hopeful we will achieve our target, thanks to animal lovers like you!!

can help us
By sponsoring a dog from our shelter @INR 1000 a month (~12 euros a month). We prefer people to sponsor some of our handicapped dogs (paralysed, blind, deaf etc) who are never adopted by anyone. We keep them with us at the shelter for the rest of their lives. You can help us a lot by sponsoring one of these babies and sending them your love. If you want to sponsor a dog, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
