SHINY

It was in the early morning of 27th May a pup was found tied to the gate of PFA. One of our employees found this Labrador pup sitting quietly at the entrance.  We found that there was nobody to claim it and we brought him into the shelter.

It was showing abnormal behaviour with uncontrolled movement of rear legs as well as the head region. He was not able to stand up and walk normally. It seemed to be suffering from a nervous disorder. This was the cause of his abandonment. The chances of recovery in such cases is almost very rare. We admitted the pup the into our shelter as a new member of our family. The pup was truly beautiful, timid, yet playful. In a short time the pup intermingled with everyone in our shelter. Since the colour of the pup was jet black with a shiny skin, it was named SHINY. Immediately we started treatment with various nerve tonic and injections along with homeopathy treatment. We tried our best to make its condition as normal as was possible. It has been provided a separate ward with unpaved floor so that it can move and walk on the soil easily. This act of abandonment is very despicable, wherein the human keep only the healthy and fit ones and discard the ones that are ill especially at the time when they need the tender care of an owner. Our PFA thrives to provide shelter, food and tender care and above all a name to give it an identity.

Sadly Shiny breathed his last in June. Rest in Peace dear SHINY. We love you.

A page from the life of PFA Agra

  • We at PFA Agra have started a project for the horses. We have been constantly getting complaints from the  tourists to the Taj (both Indian and foreign) about the poor physical condition of the horses. We went about it in a positive manner recognising the fact that the owners are very poor and so the diet of the horse would be comprising of cheaper food but not nutritious. So we decided to win the trust of the owners first through survey and then by providing food - chana (chick peas) and jowar (White millet) which they asked for. All this can be done, thanks to the generous help of Mr. Tom Griffins.
