SHIVA - The orphaned baby monkey

 

    

 

On 4th of April 2014, some people brought a baby monkey from Shivaji Nagar, Shahganj, Agra, India. The baby monkey was 1 day old and was without mother. The person told us that they had seen a monkey on the road side with baby attached to his mother. When they came closer they saw that the mother of the baby was dead and the baby was attached to mother’s womb by placental cord. The person called the nearby vet who cut the naval cord and separated the baby from the mother. They then brought the baby monkey to our hospital. We took the delicate baby monkey and admitted him in our shelter.

 

We kept him in a cage as he was so small and little to be kept with other monkeys of our shelter. We provided powdered milk to the baby with proper time schedule. The baby was given toys and beddings in his cage so that he can play with them. The baby was named SHIVA. All the people of our shelter fell in love twith the baby. We take extreme care of Shiva. He slowly adapted to his surrounding environment and for him, currently, the cage is his entire world. We are trying our utmost to provide the best to this little one so that he can get the same care and love as he would have got from his mother.

 

Once he is old enough, we will release him in our monkey ward with other monkeys so that he can learn from them and be part of a group.

  • A very active PFA member Mrs. Vineeta Sabharwal lost her dog Casper in a tragic accident and when the family went to register an FIR with the police, they were literally kicked out by the police saying that this is election time ,when people are dying they are worried about the death of a dog. It is for precisely this reason that it is essential to gather like minded people to force the DM / Commissioner to create a special branch of police station dealing with animal related crimes.
