FROM STREET TO SHELTER - POMPOM's STORY    

 

One fine day Mr Yatendra Goel , a keen animal lover and loyal PFA Agra member brought to our shelter a skinny mixed breed dog full of ticks and suffering  from severe mange. As if this was not enough, it was also blind in both the eyes. This scrawny unfortunate creature was found wandering on the road abandoned by her owners.

 

Fearing for its life, for there were moving vehicles plying on the road Mr Yatendra Goel approached it with caution while trying to keep it on the side-walk and away from the traffic. Speaking to it in soft tones he managed to catch him by its collar. The dog was scared. It growled and tried to bite him for it was in a state of bewilderment. However coaxing it with food and water he managed to bring it to our shelter. Here the doctor immediately went into action and did what was necessary.

 

This incident took place on 20 JULY, 2011. Now Pompom, as we have named it, is an integral part of our family at the shelter. Its hair is all back but it is still blind. When I go to the shelter, and as soon as he hears my car, he keeps barking till I go to him, take him for a walk and give him goodies. He loves being with me and so much looks forward to being able to walk in the shelter..

  • Another vet student from Holland, Vasco, had come to PFA Agra shelter for a period of 3 weeks. He has now gone back 
  • Ms. Elke Winkler was at the shelter for her annual visit. She donated money for a ward for old dogs which are no more capable of fighting off stronger and younger dogs. These dogs have been at the shelter for quite some years. Along with this she brought with her dog beds which have been donated for the dog hostel and other material.
