IN THE MEMORY OF BUS-BUS

It was about 6 years ago in 2005 that a very small pup came to our hospital in a very critical condition, with a severely injured mouth and fractures on both the front legs. It seemed that the pup would not survive at all.

After reviewing itís condition, it was decided that one of itís leg, which was totally damaged, would have to be amputated, while the other needed to be plastered. The pup was placed under special care and was treated repeatedly. After about a month the pup recovered significantly and even the fractured leg  healed properly. The pup won all our hearts during this period with its spirit. With the passage of time, the pup became quite active and well adjusted to its surroundings. We affectionately named the loveable pup Bus-Bus. As time passed, Bus-Bus became a healthy young dog.

One fateful night in the mid of November 2011, we received a complaint that there was severe fighting between the dogs and they kept barking continuously.  Mr. Mulayam Singh and other members of the staff patrolled the area near the river but could not see any thing that could be causing this restlessness among the dogs. The next morning around 10 in the morning, Bus-Bus was found lying on the floor near the dispensary. We quickly took Bus-bus into the dispensary and took itís temperature. At 94 F, the temperature was too low. We tried hard to treat him, but sadly, it was too late! Bus-Bus died in the arms of the doctor. He went away to his happy hunting grounds surrounded by the staff who always cared for him.

It was indeed a very sad day for all of us. We carried out a post mortem and found evidence of internal hemorrhage in the body, which was responsible for the low temperature and his eventual death.

We buried Bus-Bus near the backyard of the hospital. We will never be able to forget that day and will always cherish the memories of Bus-Bus.
