On the 26^th of November, PFA Agra received a complaint from Vijay Nagar Colony about a dog having severe maggot infested wound on his forehead. One of our para-vets went there and provided primary treatment. It was then brought to the shelter. The condition of the dog was very severe. As mostly is the case, the prognosis was not very kind. The maggots were deep inside the cranial region. Maggots were removed and antibiotics given.

Initially the dog was very afraid of us and was very aggressive. Since he could not see, he was very apprehensive. And anyone coming near him seemed to be a danger for him. Instilling a trust for human beings in an animal is one of the most difficult part. This makes it even more difficult to treat such animals.

However, slowly he showed excellent response to the treatment and the wonderful part was that one eye of his could be saved. He was also now responsive and did not mistrust us so much. We named him Jeetu, meaning the Victor. He has now adjusted to the life at the shelter.

Helping Jeetu is not only our victory but it is a victory for all of us. It is a victory for everyone starting from the person who made the call for this poor soul, to people who treated him and all sensitive people out there whose donations make this possible. It was a group effort which made this possible for Jeetu. This is how one small call, one small donation and a sensitive heart makes a difference of life and death for each struggling animal on the streets of Agra.
