TUFFY
On 7th August
a person who called himself Sunny Batra, a resident of 24 Radhey
Greens brought a bitch named Tuffy, a German Shepherd. He was keen on
putting the dog in the hostel for three days as he was going out of
station. As the hostel fee was INR 150/- per day or 200/- for a
special diet, he paid us 500/- for three days. We had just started
the hostel facility a couple of months back and were new to the game. We
were very thrilled that he had very honestly deposited the whole amount
plus 50/- extra. Little did we know his
true intentions. Tuffy was a very friendly bitch and easily won over our hearts. We diligently looked after her and full attention was paid to her diet and health. She had a room to herself and she was given pedigree dog food, dog biscuits and rusks over and above the normal food, even if the owner did not pay for a special diet. She is so adorable!! We had to keep her isolated from the other dogs, just so that she would not get into a fight and hurt herself After three
days were up we awaited the owner's return . He did not come. We rang him
up and he informed us that he was delayed and that he would come
back after seven days. We believed him and waited out the days. He
still did not come. When we rang him this time, his mobile was
switched off. We went to the address he gave us and our
gnawing suspicions proved correct. He had given us the wrong address. It
finally dawned to us that he had abandoned her. We were devastated
for her because she was always staring in the direction of the gate
awaiting her master. She did not realize that he had betrayed her trust.
We still look after her in the same manner as if she still has a owner
because we did not want to betray her the second time. Her nails were
trimmed, she is groomed daily, and she is still fed
pedigree dog food, biscuits and rusks and normal food along with mineral
water. She still resides in the room allotted to her in the
hostel. However we bring her down nearer the dispensary area during the day so that she does not feel left out. Sometimes we let her roam around and because of her size the other dogs do not challenge her.
Later we came to know that she was abandoned because she had a mammary tumour. It was too small to operate upon but we could also not do so because at first we were waiting for the owner to return. Then the tumour started increasing and fever set in. We are now treating her for the fever and as soon as the fever subsides she will be operated upon. After her recovery we will put her up for adoption. Please let us know in case anyone of you would like to sponsor TUFFY or adopt her |
