On the 23rd of Feb, PFA Agra got an information from Mr. Sonu from Wildlife SOS that a truck full of ducks were being transported. One of our staff member Deepti promptly swung into action. She along with Sonu stopped the truck. However the wildlife people were called in and they along with the police were prepared to let go of the truck. There were 2100 trucks loaded in the truck. Deepti took her bike and parked it in front of the truck and asked them for the legal papers allowing them transportation. They didnt have any. It was with great difficulty that an FIR was lodged. In the meantime, our president, Dr. Surat Gupta also reached the police station and another PFA member Kuldeep Rathore also joined in. The truck was caught in the morning but an FIR was finally registered at around 7 in the evening. As PFA Agra does not have anough space to keep so many ducks, they were handed over to wildlife SOS at Keetham. During the process, these ducks were twice taken to Yamuna river to allow them free movement, water and food. They are now safe at Keetham, living a normal free life. The case is still going on but we pray that the ducks can continue to enjoy their freedom.

This is how PFA Agra is making a difference in the lives of the animals. Our main area of work is to reach out to stray animals on the streets, but if we are called in for cases like these, we do respond also. After all, it is all about reaching out to animals in need. We are the only shelter here in Agra doing something for the animals in Agra. • Shri Atmanand Jain Samaj and its mahila (women) wing Shri Atmanand Jain Mahila Sangh sponsored another ICU unit for the shelter specially for infectious diseases. It is in isolation away from the main dispensary area. The inauguration was done by the Mayor of Agra.
  
  
• Thanks to Harmony Fund, they have given us a donation to buy a water desalination plant. The water in our shelter was very salty due to high TDS and it was becoming critical to install such a plant to purify water. Soon our animals will be able to drink clean and healthier water. The plant installation is almost over.
